CIVILIZATION IS SOMETHING FOR CONTINUALLY SURPASSING ITSELF

(by Dlanorrenrag*)

CIVILIZATION IS SOMETHING FOR CONTINUALLY SURPASSING ITSELF:

Leadership consists in inspiring and prodding contrarily motivated interests and persons to believe in, and work together towards, a likely value in pursuing emerging, alternatively-defined courses — such as in respect of imagined, common visions.

To appreciate meaningfulness in leading or in seeking creative fulfillment by enlisting others in a cause, it should be remembered that one’s cause would lose meaning but for being opposed by that which it seeks to change. A good new cause ever needs a good old opposition — even while remaining ever mindful that a third, newer (perhaps unintended) cause must eventually emerge, as new and old come eventually to annihilate one another.

Thus do young liberals forever need the moderating restraint of old conservatives. And, thus do old opponents and new leaders, alike, stand attuned to ever newly emerging civilization.
