The Source

(by Dlanorrenrag*)

The Source:

A “universe-as-it-exists-in-itself” is an ineffable thing which, as its holistic self, can sponsor presentations, but cannot itself be represented. Yet, in representations, it can source the presentation of holographic perspectives, sensations, and consciousness of itself.

Each holographic presentation, as such, has an aspect of indivisibility in respect of the indivisibility of its sponsoring Source. Yet, each such holographic presentation will sponsor such sensations or appearances of divisibility as will be experienced or recorded as it discretely contacts, vibrates against, or intersects with others.

Each holographic presentation of various kinds or levels may come into, or be brought into, association with others, to various degrees or extents. Yet, all associate with expression and translation of feedback, sensation, sentience, or consciousness --- to some fluxing level or extent of being’ness and becoming’ness. In sum, they represent what I fondly refer to as a “flying spaghetti algorithm” --- or Allie Allah Algorithm (or “AlGor,” for short).

Depending upon level of association, various mathematical systems of representation may come to be shared among variously compatible holographies. Thus, at the level of human holography, we happen to share perceptions of such appearances of basic discrete quanta and forces as have facilitated the morphing into being’ness of our shared human capacity to appreciate perceptions of “physicality.”

However, such apparent quanta, forces, and physicality seem to be derivative of an aforesaid superior Source. The Source sponsors such variously interacting holographies of sensation as come to avail, at human level, our shared capacities to interpret ourselves as interacting among appearances, translations, or representations of our “physical reality.”

The “physical” result would be no different --- regardless of whether the Source-in-itself (and/or all said holographies) were “conscious-in-itself.”

In any event, it seems every meaningful holography must sponsor or be accompanied with some expression (or at least potential expression) of sensation, sentience, or consciousness. That is, at some level, consciousness seems necessarily to accompany, pervasively, all holographically presented representations of the Source.

All expressions of interaction seem to be systemically entangled to some level and/or extent, such that events seem to unfold within parameters in ways that are: not entirely indifferent, nor entirely empathetic; not entirely determined, nor entirely chosen.

That is, Empathetic Will seems pervasive, in that each observer seems to exert some effect, however minute or unpredictable, on his or her entire, entangled holography.

So: Is such a notion testable, rather than merely intuit-able or rationalize-able? It seems not. Does such a notion in any untoward way inhibit the “advance” of science? It seems not.

So: Why is such intuited extension of consciousness of interest? Because, it suggests or helps rationalize a moral basis for civilized, enlightened empathy.

So: Is enlightened empathy important? Well, to some of us, it seems so.

What about parsimony: A post-modern notion of “Allie-Allah-Algorithm” (Consciousness) does not violate, but advances, an aesthetic of parsimony. That is, it rationalizes a basis for moral empathy, yet attributes no unnecessary surplusage to “God.”

BTW --- Does AlGor seem more esoteric than string theory?

(And, given the rife ambiguity of our world, should we expect our Author to be other than ambiguous?)

Kierkegaard v. Hegel:

FROM DAVE: "The air is pretty thin in some of those alternate universes."
DLANO: Said Morpheus to Neo: You think that's air your're breathing?

****

DLANO: Some scientists seem to think alternative universes are implicated not in measurable physicality, but in mathematical necessity.
Others become so tied to Kierkegaard-ian "either-or" thinking (logical law of the excluded middle and all that) that they lose appreciation of Hegel-ian dialectic process-thinking (either-or being'ness vs. ambiguous becoming'ness; manifesting vs. emerging; science vs. poetry).

AlGor, in a still quiet voice, shows you spiritual bread, but you think physical bread is all there is.
Look to your soul, muse-man!

Of course alternative universes are beyond measure!
How else could they be alternative?
But, are they within intuitive implication or poetic appreciation?

Well, what about a "metaphysical residue" of annihilating interactions of matter and anti-matter?
What is source and product of such annihilations, if not a pure source of fluxing algorithms --- AlGor at work!

Is not physical matter "samsara," merely derivative of superior reality, which is Source of Consciousness?
Superior reality is immeasurably holographic, not measurably discrete.

Why persecutist thou Anthropic Consciousness?
Of course the Anthropic Principle cannot constitute testable evidence of God!
But that is not to say that it cannot support reason to believe.
Do you rationalize that all that is reasonable to believe must be amenable of being proven to knowledge?
Well, then, define what you “know” — which is not trivial!

Apart from “Universe-in-itself,” to what other source may we make more certain reference, if not our own consciousness?
Basis is in consciousness.

Long live Spaghetti Head!
Ommm...

BTW --- The Ven ici story was great!

FROM DAVE: You know that these mental gymnastics may indicate temporal insanity. Crazy in one state, but not in the other. Moving from state to state too quickly makes me feel light-headed, possibly a result of hypoxia. The air is pretty thin in some of those alternate universes. As far as I know, there are no known physical laws governing the interaction or behavior of information - it does not possess gravity (whatever that is), and therefore has no density - although one can feel overwhelmed by it. I cannot accept parallel universes except in science fiction works - there is no basis for them. When we come up against a problem that we cannot solve, either due to ignorance or simply human inability, we often make a leap into science fiction (there should be a word for that phenomenon, ah yes, 'religion'). Yes, I know that sometimes science fiction becomes fact, but in this case, alternate universes exist only in the mind - and even more, if it were true, you could not prove it. It would be nothing more than metaphysics. I'm surprised there aren't any religions based on it. I suppose Jerry Garcia came the closest to founding one.

Subject: Re: Expelling Vapors Of Entropy:

INFORMATION ACCUMULATION: Well, I think the issue of rate of information accumulation is, necessarily, observer driven --- after all, being driven is what we are, Ven ici.

PARAMETER VIOLATIONS: Upon reaching a critical point of density, matter collapses into a black hole.
Upon reaching a critical point, does information self replicate at such an explosive rate as to irretrievably sink under its own accumulation? (Malthusian information tragedy?)

INTUITION: Does it not seem to you that information is being ordered and organized --- explosively --- to the service of consciousness?
I know of no way to measure such. But my consciousness intuits it.

CHOICE OF DEFINITION: Do I think "the raw amount of information being organized," such as via the internet and wave propagation, exceeds what would exist were we only bacteria?
Well, a problem with that is choice of definition: What should one mean by "raw information"?
I doubt any referent-in-itself actually exists for such a concept.

VEN ICI: I embrace it. I suspect any number of parallel universes cohabit our existence, being beyond our perception because our defining algorithms suit us only for interpreting, sensing, and translating the specific holography that dances cheek to cheek with us.
Within our holography, information is exploding --- I believe.

FROM DAVE: Entropy would still be the same in an open, closed or flat universe. The anthropic principle is just a cheap way out for those tired of thinking about it - "if the universe were any different, we could not be here to see it". This is simplistic and adds no value to the understanding of how or why. Even worse, it limits the complexity of the universe to that which one can observe. They should at least put some color in it and rename it the Venetian Principle. When Attila the Hun chased the romans into the lagoon to become the future Venetians,.by their own words the city gained its name Veni ici ("I made it here"). So, the universe is the way I say it is, and I know this because Veni ici.

I don't see how the amount of information accumulated in our vicinity would be less. Do bacteria or dinosaurs require/produce less information? What perspective is that? "Still, it seems to me that the ordering of information, at least insofar as relevant to conscious appreciation of it, is "violating" a common notion about the second law." I don't think the information you are referring to has a particular order. If an event occurs and we can detect it - that is the information. The time or spatial order of the events are irrelevant.

****
FROM DLANO (Head Case):
RE: "the odds of having a 'flat' cosmology are only one in 10^120 power (coincidence problem)"
See http://map.gsfc.nasa.gov/universe/uni_shape.html .

DAVE,

ENTROPY'S TWIN: Do you suppose a flat universe is consistent with heat-entropy going in one direction and its twin, information-entropy (availed to forms of consciousness) going in another? (May it be that, once the information fuse is lit, there is no stopping the accelerating explosion of information, until it implodes itself into its own kind of black hole?)

LIMITS OF ENDURANCE: Either way, nothing like the human form can endure beyond certain limits.
Either we will freeze or we will learn too much to want to continue.
After some limit, don't you suppose information would overload any mortal form of consciousness?

ASSUMING "GOD" LEARNS: Once done with the human form ("been there, done that"), what do you suppose is next in transcendence?

ANTHROPIC ODDS: The odds against a flat universe (for "God" to experiment and then be done with us) seems also to invite the Anthropic Principle:

A secularist will say, "Well, all the universe's chil'n gots to be somewhere."
A believer will say, ""Well, all God's chil'n gots to be somewhere."

INFORMATION PRESERVED IN ORDERED FORMS OF MATTER: You know, I have heard arguments similar to what you imply regarding diamonds, etc.

APPRECIABLE INFORMATION: Still, it seems to me that the ordering of information, at least insofar as relevant to conscious appreciation of it, is "violating" a common notion about the second law.
I have no doubts about the dissipation of "physical" energy.
But I do have doubts about the dissipation of information being availed, organized, and recorded by forms of consciousness.

DOES ENTROPY REGULATE MEASURABLE QUANTA OF INFORMATION: You say strictly scientific evolution has no progressive purpose.
I agree.

If so, we could presently just as well be dinosaurs, or bacteria.
If we were, the amount of information accumulated in our vicinity would be "less," would it not?
So, does entropy regulate the dissipation of quanta of information or not?

RANDOM: If not entropy, should we punt to random chance?
Well, for trying to explain things scientifically, yes.
But, even as we try to explain things, must or should we necessarily believe that physics controls all, even consciousness?

CONSCIENTIOUS OBJECTOR: I doubt it. Rather, at that point, I balk and become a "scientific heretic" (conscientious objector to scientific orthodoxy).

HEAD CASE: At that point, I prefer Allie Allah Algorithm, aka, "AlGor" (sometimes called spaghetti-head, not to be confused with head-case).

***

FROM DAVE: I teach math and I know there are at least two levels of understanding ; the intuitive and the mechanical. The mechanic memorizes a bunch of facts for an exam and then later forgets them. The intuitive understand. When a person understands an idea they don't have to memorize it.
....
I just finished the last class of the semester and was discussing cosmology - you know, dark matter and dark energy stuff. This is where I get my revenge on some of them. I spend the entire semester telling them the scientific viewpoints in astronomy and then on the last day and last 5 minutes I get to tell them that the odds of having a 'flat' cosmology are only one in 10^120 power (coincidence problem) - needless to say, most of them give me quite incredulous looks. But that is where we stand. Physicists ( http://map.gsfc.nasa.gov/universe/uni_shape.html ) cannot come up with anything better, at the moment. Would you believe in a theory that has such limited odds of being true? Certainly I'm open to most other considerations, even irrational ones. It's a great feeling telling the students that.
